BySTřICKO (Bystřice region) 1 The Zubr paths are a complex of unique cycling trips in the Bystřice region. On your bike rides you will be able to see the best of the countryside, which seems to be made for cycling. There is something for nature and history lovers, as well as technical and architectural sights. The region is a part of the Svratecká hornatina nature reserve. When cycling, you will be able to visit the fairytale castle Pernštejn, Svratka water-management nature trail around the Vír dam and around the Svratka river, walk up to the top of hills decorated by rocks and observation towers, admire alleys of old trees or seek out memorial stones and conciliation stone from the distant and recent past. You can rest in the EDEN Centre a centre of green knowledge with a natural chemist, a brewery and a stable. If you want a proper cycling experience, visit the net of single tracks in the Vysočina Arena in the town of Nové Město na Moravě. Since 2015, Bystřicko has been a part of the tourist region Koruna Vysočiny (Crown of the Highlands) which covers the east part of the Czech-Moravian Highlands from Žďárské vrchy to Tišnov. This area unites and represents the best of several regions (Žďársko, Novoměstsko, Bystřicko, Nedvědicko, Tišnovsko, Velkomeziříčsko and Bítešsko) and it connects everyone related to tourism within the regions. Thanks to the water in the countryside and the way it is presented to visitors through nature trails, the Bystřice region received the title EDEN (European Destination of Excellence) in 2010. 2 The Historical Trail 36 / 47 km A trail following historical, architectural and technical sights of the region. The shorter version takes you across ruins of Zubštejn and Pyšolec medieval castles, around the Vír dam, along the Svratka water-management nature trail, all the way to Dalečín, and then further to the Romanesque church of St. Michael in Vítochov. The longer version offers beautiful views from Polom and Ubušínek: you can see the Svratka river valley with the Vír dam. The ice wall is where the Czech ice climbing championship takes place. There is a curiosity in Vír as well a small water mill. The reservoir in Vír, which dammed the Svratka river, has the third highest dam in the Czech Republic at 76.5 m high. Ubušínek a village conservation area with folk architecture. 4 The Picturesque Trail 49 km A trail around Pernštejn castle, which follows old paths in this varied and indented landscape. There are a lot of historical stone and wooden bridges near and around the castle. The trail will take you to Sýkořice woods, Cheb stream valley and a spring snowflake nature reserve and then to Dolní Čepí a historic miner s village. To get to know the area around Nedvědice, you can use the Pernštejn nature trail. 6 The Trail with Views 45 km This is a tip for a cycling trip for those not afraid of riding up hills! Across the deep Svratka valley there are tracks and paths which lead through a hilly terrain to spots with the best views of Bystřicko. The top of the ruin of Zubštejn, the observation towers Horní les and Karasín will provide you with views of the landscape from Brno up to Jeseník. This is a demanding trip which will not disappoint in any season. 16 Velodrome Vysočina Singletracks - Nové Město na Moravě The mountain bike trails in Nové Město continues the tradition of MTB racing in Nové Město. The project was created by Lukáš Vlach and Jan Skřička, members of the MTB World Championship organization committee. They designed the trails so that they are enjoyable for a wide range of cyclists. Everyone can find a suitable trail depending on their level of fitness and technical abilities. There are technically easy, fun and safe trails for children; natural trails suitable for wheelchairs or handbikes designed for cyclists with disabilities; as well as very demanding trails for experienced cyclists. The level of the trails is based on current trends of trails built for the MTB World Championship. Long Trails Across Regions 17 EuroVelo 4 A European trail cutting through the old continent from the west to the east. It is 4000 km long, starting in Roscoff, a town on the French coast, through Belgium, Germany, to the Czech Republic and then further east to Kiev. This trail also goes through the regions of Nové Město and Bystřice, from Herálec and Koníkov through the Svratka valley all the way to the Pernštejn castle. It then continues to Bohemia and follows Sázava river to where it meets Vltava in Davle. The Posázavská trail is number 19 and it goes through beautiful countryside. It is 245 km long. 18 The Miller s Trail Thematic Long Trails A long cycling trail going across regions. It s main topic is the history of flour milling. The trail starts in Nové Město and continues to the border crossing Čížov-Hardegg. The trail is designed so that it goes along watercourses with old mills, which used to be indispensable in the past. Altogether there are 48 mills in various conditions, and there are other cultural and natural monuments as well. The trail is mostly off-road. Hardegg (A) Santini s Trail (5061) A regional cycle path following the baroque architecture of Jan Blažej Santini. There are remarkable buildings along the path: the church of Jan Nepomucký in Zelená hora (UNESCO), the cemetary church of Holy Trinity in Žďár nad Sázavou, St. Wenceslaw church in Zvole, the Romanesque church of St. Pater and Paul in Horní Bobrová or the church Navštívení Panny Marie (Visit of Virgin Mary) in Obyčtov. The EDEN Centre The Paradise Full of Fun in Vysočina 19 The previously delapidated Mitrovský farm in Bystřice nad Pernštejnem has been turned into a new environmentalist centre, which is a paradise full of fun for the whole family. Only here will you experience a fascinating journey through time the past, the present and the future. You can touch and try everything in the EDEN Centre. The aristocratic farm of the Mitrovský family, a highland village Eco-Pavilion, a chemist, a brewery and a fresh juice producer are the zones of the EDEN centre. You can spend the whole day here: explore a mole hill, experience a typical day of the nobility from the 19th century, try our ancestor s crafts, mill your own flour, weave or just lie in the hay. The Eco-Pavilion will introduce you to modern technologies and their methods of using the energy of earth, fire, water and air.
