Postal customs s When sending goods or documents to countries outside the customs and tax territories of the European Community (further mentioned as third countries) in consignment whose contents are: Commercial goods goods sent between business persons BB, BC and CB; Non-commercial goods goods addressed to private persons, intended for non-vat payers, e.g. from an online shop, or gifts Your consignment must be accompanied by a completed postal customs declarations. A correctly and completely filled in form will ensure: Delivery of the consignment to the addressee abroad without the risk of the consignment being returned to sender who will have to pay the cost of re-delivery of the consignment (in the absence of data about the content of the consignment, the country of destination may return the consignment and charge the fees collected from the sender of the consignment if the consignment is returned from abroad) Accelerated customs clearance in the country of destination without unnecessary delays and complications Correct and trouble-free assessment of customs duties (in case the goods are not subject to exemption from import duties and taxes) Which form of postal customs declaration should I use? Like all member countries of the Universal Postal Union, Czech designated operator Česká pošta, s.p., uses these types of postal customs s: customs declarations CN and and integrated customs declarations in CP 7 (for ordinary and insured parcels) and EMS (for EMS items). Since st January 08, the following types of international consignments dispatched to the third countries: Ordinary Mail, Ordinary Printed Matter Bag, Ordinary Mail for the Blind, must be sent with a new type of customs label with a barcode (barcoded CN forms will be available at each post office receiving these types of mail); Registered Mail and Registered Mail for the Blind can still be sent with a CN form without a barcode (if a barcoded CN form is used, the clerk will cancel the barcode by crossing it out). choose the right type of a customs declaration, you need to consider the nature of the content goods in the consignment and its customs value: Customs value up to SRD 300 or non-commercial goods -> you can use customs label CN (or barcoded CN for ordinary letters) Customs value over SRD 300 or commercial goods -> you must use customs Customs value means the price that was or is to be actually paid for the goods intended for export (export to third countries), i.e. the price for the goods + transportation costs + additional costs (if any), such as insurance. Note: Customs value must be declared even for gifts. DTS (Les droits de tirage spéciaux) or in SDR (Special Drawing Rights) (currency code: DR) is the unit of account for the International Monetary Fund. The DTS exchange rate for 08 is set at CZK 33.374 (DTS 300 = CZK 9,97.). The body authorised to set the rate is the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Note: If your consignment addressed to a third countries contains only a written communication (a letter between natural persons), you do not have to fill in any postal customs. The despatch note for International Standard Parcel and International Insured Parcel consignments as well as the address label for International EMS consignments contain a section dedicated to postal customs declaration. These instructions can also be used to fill in either of them.
How to fill in customs declaration CN Customs declaration must be always filled in Latin script in English, French or in a language accepted in the destination country. You can find detailed information about the delivery conditions in destination countries - such as the required number of postal customs s (CN is required in one copy only), official language, prohibitions and restrictions) in the Postal Terms and Conditions - Foreign Terms and Conditions. 3 4 5 6 7 Tick one of the given options according to what are the contents of your consignment. Give the quantity and a detailed description of each article in the consignment, in a language required by the destination country (see the Foreign Terms and Conditions), e.g. in English. Give the weight of each article in the consignment plus the total weight of the consignment (if known to you; otherwise it can be completed in the form by the post office personnel when you send the consignment). If the contents are commercial goods, give the additional details - the HS tariff number (based on the Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System). Give the currency and value for each article in the consignment and the total value of the consignment. If the contents are commercial goods, give the additional details - the country of origin of the goods. Carefully read the completed customs and by your signature and the current date confirm your liability for the item. Consequences of not filling/partial filling or incorrect filling of the postal customs declarations and possible personnel steps of Česká pošta Please remember that a complete or partial absence of details in the customs can result into non-acceptance of your consignment for transportation by Česká pošta (Art. 05(7) with regard to Art. () and (3) of the Postal Terms and Conditions). Also the foreign postal operator in the destination country may refuse to accept your consignment (Art. 9 of the Postal Terms and Conditions). This means that if you are sending an consignment without a duly completed customs CN or and the post office clerk asks you to complete or correct it, and you refuse to do so, the clerk is authorized not to accept an consignment and may return it back to you.
