4 Mission and Goals Mission The mission of the Committee of Good Will Olga Havel Foundation (OHF) is to help people who because of poor health or low social status find it difficult to integrate into society or who cannot care for themselves without other people s assistance. Through its activities, the Foundation aims to foster spiritual values and support education, protect human rights, and promote humanitarian values. Goals The Committee of Good Will Olga Havel Foundation supports social services that help people who are at risk of social exclusion acquire a dignified place in society; assists civic associations and charities that provide social services to abandoned and disabled children, the homeless, women in need, the elderly, and people recovering from illness or injury, as well as organisations that help the ill relieve pain and stand by them during their final days; runs its own programmes in support of education for socially disadvantaged and disabled children; presents the Olga Havel Award annually to persons who despite their disability engage in helping others; protects humanitarian values and education in society, as a particular wish of its founder Olga Havel; joins other NGOs in their effort to enhance legislation that would lead to better social and healthcare services and protection of human rights. 5

5 Code of Conduct Code of Conduct 1. Members of the Olga Havel Foundation s bodies, employees, external partners, and volunteers shall demonstrate their allegiance to founders of the OHF and its traditions. At all times, they shall be aware of their responsibility for the overall image of the OHF and the whole NGO sector, which includes the OHF. They shall promote the good reputation of the OHF, they shall strive to prevent any possible conflict of interest, and they shall not seek personal profit at the expense of the OHF. 2. The OHF uses its resources for the beneficial purposes for which it has been established. It minimizes the expenses of its own administration, and manages its budget to make it a stable, or even growing source of income. 3. The OHF makes its documents available to the public. Information about its activities is published in annual reports, which include financial information and an overwiev of donations, donors and endowed grants. 4. The OHF strives to define its mission, goals and programmes clearly and comprehensibly. It ensures that funding is provided according to a clearly defined grant guidelines, which are published in advance in annual reports and the OHF website at 5. The OHF treats the applicants and receivers of grants and services in a helpful and honest way, strictly protecting the applicant s personal data. The OHF protects the intellectual value embedded in projects as well. 6. The OHF keeps donors and sponsors informed about the acceptance of their donations and how their donations will be used. Gifts provided for specific purposes are to be used in accordance with the donor s instructions or contracts. The OHF respects the will and wishes of donors and testators. If necessary, the OHF employees will clarify with the donors or testators and their families whether and how information about the donor s gift will be published in the annual report. 7. The OHF promotes its activities in ways that respect the dignity of its donors and the receivers of its grants. 7

6 A Word from the OHF President A Word from the OHF President Dear Supporters, Donors and Friends of the Committee of Good Will! Our foundation bears the name of Olga Havel and therefore one of our ongoing goals is to remember and commemorate her legacy. The Olga Havel Photography Exhibition has been travelling through the Czech lands and abroad for already seven years, eliciting interest and understanding everywhere. The exhibition Olga Havel and the OHF not only represents the Committee of Good Will Olga Havel Foundation, but provides an opportunity to approach people in towns and villages and get inspiration for its further work. One of the successful events of the past year was a meeting of representatives of OHF sister organisations from abroad that was held in Černín Palace in Prague in May We put together the memories of the participants in a Czech-English publication entitled All Was Driven by Our Love for Homeland. The Swiss Association Olga Havel branche helvétique, as well as the German Deutsche Freunde und Förderer der Olga Havel Stiftung, e. V., and some individuals, have maintained their contacts with the OHF and still provide assistance for selected programmes. In 2017, two of our supporters passed away beloved Mr Karel Velan from Montreal who was the first of our fellow countrymen to fund our educational programmes from 1999, and Mr Walter Liggesmeyer from Dortmund who, for many years, painted beautiful pictures to support our charity projects. I would like to thank them on behalf of the foundation and may they rest in peace. New donors and supporters are coming, and we seek to develop a sufficiently wide range of programmes where everyone can find his/her own place: Yes, I want to contribute to this, this is where I want to help. Sporty young people mostly prefer projects assisting people with handicaps, people with successful careers like to support the education of children from non-stimulating social environments, while others feel compassion for individuals with severe forms of dementia. Thanks to generous donors we have been able to expand our project for the treatment and rehabilitation of children with cerebral palsy. Considering the programmes for seniors and the development of the hospice movement, elderly people themselves help us a great deal by making charitable bequests in support of the OHF. Moreover, we have joined an initiative of supportive care for families and children who are incurably ill. In addition to contributions to children s hospices and based on a decision of the Board of Directors, we supported the Czech Medical Association in issuing the first textbook on children s palliative care. 12 Grant Programmes Grant Programmes Pathways Towards Integration Senior The programme, focused on the integration of children and adults with physical disabilities into ordinary life, is one of the pivotal OHF programmes and has been running since Throughout this period, the OHF has been monitoring the development and testing the effectiveness of rehabilitation aids and methods that ensure the disabled have a better chance of being included in society. The core of the programme is to help individuals with disabilities purchase various health and compensatory aids and to help organisations that provide them with homecare and out-patient and residential services. There Can Never Be Enough Kindness national collection, account no /0300, has been one of the sources of money for this programme. The collection lasts since March aids for people with motor disabilities 91 aids for people with hearing impairments 3 contributions for school fees for children with special educational needs 25 other spending items We would like to thank your foundation for assistance in buying the hearing aid for our son. He has got used to it very quickly and keeps discovering new sounds every day. We are sending you his picture learning to ride a bike. We use a microphone so that our voice goes straight into his ears, although we are 10 metres away. Thank you very much and we believe there are many happy children due to you! The priority of the programme was to support organisations that provide seniors with homecare services so that they stay in their environment even when their self-reliance is reduced. The foundation s contributions were also designed to support the staff training at homes for the elderly and at homes with special arrangements to improve the life conditions of clients in these residential facilities. The OHF contributed to education in the field of the most successful internationally recognised activation programmes. The foundation s contribution of CZK 40,000 was used to cover the transportation of nurses to the service users, and the transportation of the service users to physicians, various offices and shops. During project implementation we helped 23 citizens all of whom were seniors. The distance travelled was 1,176 km and three company cars were used. In total we drove 16,430 km during the period of project implementation and this included transportation of staff to trainings, check-up visits and checks of the quality of services. 13 Grant Programmes Grant Programmes Palliative Care The programme was designed to support quality projects that help eliminate or alleviate the suffering of dying people and maintain their dignity in the terminal stage of their lives. The OHF focused on strengthening the professional development of non-government, nonprofit organisations in palliative and hospice care. In 2017, the contibutions aimed to pay for staff development and to procure health equipment for the providers of social services. In 2017, the OHF also supported children s palliative care, for example the publication of a new, comprehensive specialist publication A Really Practical Handbook of Children s Palliative Care for Doctors and Nurses Anywhere in the World, which is the first book of its kind in the Czech Republic. The mission of Home Palliative Care, the hospice team, is to ensure that the patients spend the last days of their lives in dignity and love among those closest to them, without much fear and suffering; and to support the caring families during the illness and in the period of mourning, to offer them psychological and spiritual help. Thanks to the foundation we bought part of the necessary equipment for the ambulance. The medical equipment we purchased included the Aerobag resuscitation kit that contains a bag valve mask, resuscitation masks, an oxygen tube and tank, ventilators and an anti-bacterial filter. Furthermore, we bought a pressure gauge, a contact-free thermometer and a calibrated thermometer for the refrigerator that is necessary for preserving medicines at the right temperature. Local Charity Ústí nad Orlicí Ordinary Life The Ordinary Life grant programme is one of the long-running OHF programmes and it is designed to help people who are at risk of social exclusion. In 2017, support was provided as part of the programme to non-profit organisations that look after poor families with children, persons released from prison and all those who, despite their efforts, have little chance to live a normal, ordinary life. The priority of the programme in 2017 was support for social housing. On January 1, 2018, the OHF took over administration of the Nejdřív střecha (Roof First) project that had been set up by Vojtěch Sedláček together with the NADĚJE organisation. The project offers a helping hand to those who have lost their homes and makes it possible for them to get free accommodation in bunkhouses and asylum houses for up to two months. From 29 July till 5 August and from 5 August till 12 August 2017, a summer adventure camp entitled Living Together was held in the spirit of the Pirates of the Caribbean in the beautiful hilly landscape just outside the village of Malá Bystřice. It was attended by 90 children and young people from excluded localities of Ostrava. The objective was, first of all, to make it possible for mostly Roma and other children from poor families to spend time in a different environment, to acquire new skills and competencies, to gain new experiences and make new friends. Children made friends together, learned hygiene habits and acquired new skills. They realised how important it is to learn self-regulation, to overcome obstacles and difficulties, and to learn how to deal with unpredictable situations and take responsibility. 14 Grant Programmes Grant Programmes Fund for Children with Cerebral Palsy Sasakawa Asthma Fund The birth of a child with cerebral palsy (CP) brings not only a psychological but also a financial burden for the family. Although special motor therapy (neurorehabilitation) is of major importance in terms of improving the child s health condition, it is not covered by health insurance. Since 2015, the OHF has been contributing to the neurorehabilitation of children in therapeutic facilities. A comprehensive therapy is proven to play a crucial role in supporting psychomotor development and ensures great progress in the child s overall development. The therapy very much helps Mary to keep control of and strengthen the upper part of her body. After the therapy she managed to make 5 small steps only with a walker without assistance. This is a great success both for us and for Mary. From a letter of Mary s parents The fund was established in 1993 by the Sasakawa Foundation (later renamed Nippon Foundation) to help asthmatic and allergic children. The profit from the deposited amount is distributed in an RFP procedure to organisations providing preventive services and curative stays in nature for such children, to hospitals for equipment in their allergology wards, and to facilities providing curative stays and rehabilitation to children with asthma or allergy. Due to the curative breaks, the number of the days the children and young people are ill decreases and, in many cases, the number and level of the medicines administered are reduced as well. A major benefit of these stays is that they lead to improvement of physical stamina. This is done through a gradual increase in the intensity of motor activities in mountainous areas, and the use of mineral, thermal pools with water containing a high content of calcium and magnesium. Another important aspect of the curative stays is that the children and their parents gain some experience and knowledge about the illness and about the ways in which they can cope with it in life. 15 Grant Programmes Grant Programmes Education Fund Summer Language School The aim of the programme is to help disadvantaged young people access education. The scholarships are designed for students from children homes, low-income families and children with disabilities. The prerequisite is good performance at school. In 2017, monthly grants were provided to 79 students at secondary schools and universities up to 26 years of age (22 of them were students from children s homes, 11 had physical disabilities and 46 social disadvantages). The OHF offered a one-off contribution to 20 students for learning and other aids and school fees. Being from a children s home or having a poor social background does not have to mean that you finish school at seventeen and are excluded from having more ambitious goals. The letter confirming that I have been granted money for studies has changed my life. Kristýna Honzíková, graduate of 3 rd Medical Faculty of Charles University In August 2017, students from children s homes and foster families took part in a project focused on studying English abroad. The courses were held in Great Britain at language schools in Leeds, Bristol and Harrogate and in the cities of San Gwann and Msida, Sliema and Marsascala in Malta. The experience shows that children who attend language courses abroad are more independent and are more motivated to learn foreign languages. It was an incredible experience. I think it has helped me make major progress not only in my English, but also in my personal life. I realized what I am capable of handling and overcoming. At the beginning I was terrified about being there, but then I got used to it and did not want to go back. Everything was just so perfect. Denisa K. 16 Grant Programmes Nikola Tesla Scholarship This programme was launched in 2015 and its implementation is supported by the Nadace ČEZ Foundation. Its aim is to provide financial support to talented young people from low-income families, children s homes and people with physical disabilities who study technical programmes at universities in the Czech Republic. Thanks to a higher level of support from the ČEZ Foundation the programme was expanded in 2017 to provide funds to more students. Every year, the OHF organises trips to places where the students can deepen their knowledge. This year, the students visited the Vítkov facility of the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic where the microtron (electron accelerator) is placed. The Nikola Tesla scholarship is not only for me, but also for my siblings. Every crown my parents save not having to pay for my studies can be invested in the studies of my siblings. 17 Projects Projects Salzburg Medical Seminars IN 2017, for the fifteenth year, the OHF continued organising stays of Czech physicians to the Salzburg Medical Seminars organised by the American Austrian Foundation within the Open Medical Institute Programme. A total of 219 individuals applied to take part in 37 courses in various fields of medicine, of which 74 were selected. As part of the subsequent sharing of knowledge and experience two seminars were held for the professional public and NGO representatives in Prague (in April MUDr. Alena Schejbalová, Ph.D., MUDr. Josef Kraus, CSc. and MUDr. Daniela Marková held a seminar on neurorehabilitation for children with cerebral palsy; and the topic of sensory activation was presented by Ing. Bc. Hana Vojtová in October). A truly excellent seminar for a pathologist this was a great combination of clinical findings, theory and morphology thanks to the lecturers from the USA. 18 Projects Projects Sports for Charity Holidays In 2017, children from the following 30 children s homes spent their holidays by the sea in Croatia: Dolní Čermná, Polička, Staňkov, Valašské Meziříčí, Uherský Ostroh, Planá u Mariánských Lázní, Tachov, Sedloňov, Telč, Korkyně, Solenice, Krupka, Pyšely, Humpolec, Potštejn, Pardubice, Tišnov, Ústí nad Labem, Vysoká Pec, Kralupy nad Vltavou, Ledce, Řepiště, Příbor, Ostrava Bukovanského, Zruč nad Sázavou, Semily, Dolní Lánov, Hrotovice, Mikulov, Jemnice. In addition to the change of the environment, the children managed to live well with children other than those they are placed with in one apartment. They experienced how their carers behave in various situations outside the home. Nearly all children suffer from dermatological or respiratory problems. The sea and the sea air have had an enormously positive impact on their health. Most of them experienced feelings of unbelievable happiness. Thank you on behalf of all of them. The objective of the project is to involve sportspeople in charitable activities. A total of 160 Runners of Good Will took part in RunCzech races. Overall 144 ČSOB staff participated in the RunCzech races and, in this way, contributed CZK 189,500 to the OHF (for each kilometre the bank donated CZK 100). Moreover, 273 staff of ČSOB took part in the Ride a Bike to Work project where the bank donated CZK 2 for each kilometre, totalling CZK 101,370. Generali Investments CEE organised a charity golf tournament in the Golf Resort Karlštejn for the third time, with the proceeds of CZK 250,000 donated to help children with cerebral palsy. At the fourth charity Liberec Run students of Technical University in Liberec collected CZK 54,756 for the OHF. The Chodov Centre organised the Unexpected Fit&Fun sports event with proceeds of CZK 30,999 that were used to fund sports activities of children in children s homes. The proceeds of CZK 100,000 from the Dragon Boat Charity Race organised by the Rotary Club Prague International as part of the Prague Dragon Boat Festival were used to help children with cerebral palsy. I run because I love it. It is a pleasant relaxation, time when I clear my head, or I solve problems. Sometimes I feel like comparing my fitness with others and I go for a race. Similar to the training, I compete only with myself in fact. I face no other obstacles. But not everyone is in the same situation like me. There are people for whom life has thrown barriers in their way they cannot overcome without help. 19 Projects Projects Olga Havel Award The Olga Havel Award is awarded annually by OHF to people who despite their disabilities enthusiastically engage in work for others. On May 29, the Olga Havel 2017 Award was conferred on Naděžda Nováková, chairwoman of ROSKA Ostrava, for many years of work benefiting people with multiple sclerosis. The 23 rd laureate of the Olga Havel Award was selected from 26 nominated candidates. In 2017, a Public Award was announced for the first time. The winner came from online voting at website. The Public Award was given to Michal Šimůnek, chairman of C-M-T, z. s., for pursuing the interests and needs of people with severe neurological problems. The Award Ceremony took place in the Černín Palace in Prague. 20 Projects Public Relations Public Relations Golden Lane No. 19 The house no. 19 in the Golden Lane at the Prague Castle is rented from the Prague Castle Administration to house a gallery under the auspices of the OHF. The gallery sells products from workshops employing people with disabilities. The project stems from desire of Olga Havel to promote practical activities of people with handicaps. A tradition dating back to 1995 is still flourishing and the gallery attracts a lot of attention of visitors to the Prague Castle, thus promoting the good name of the OHF abroad. During 2017, many events took place where the OHF sought to raise awareness among the public of its activities and commemorated Olga Havel s legacy. In January, the OHF staff and supporters lit a candle for Olga Havel at the Havel family tomb. Ivan M. Havel and Petruška Šustrová spoke at the commemorative event and the Carmina Bohemica choir gave a performance. Publishing and promoting information about OHF long-term projects continued to be an integral part of communication with the public and the media. Moreover, the OHF promoted its activities at various public events: NGO Market (April 27), Sportisimo ½ Marathon Prague (April 1), Volkswagen Marathon Prague (May 7), Veggie Náplavka (May 1 and September 10), Olga Havel Charity Run in Liberec (June 3), O2 Pražská štafeta 4 5 (June 14), BOSKOVICE Festival for the Jewish Quarter (July 8 9), Běchovice Run (September 24), Birell Grand Prix Prague (September 10), Democracy Festival in Prague (October 9). An opening of the Olga Havel and the Committee of Good Will photography exhibition was held in the Kopidlno Culture and Education Centre (January 7), at the Czech Centre in Warsaw (June 19), in Prague 3 (August 3) and Prague 6 (September 7). In 2017, the OHF continued co-operation with the Vaclav Havel Library and held two panel discussions on society-wide topics: Employment of People with Physical Disabilities Social Enterprises Facing Business (March 30), attended by Jiří Herynek, founder of the Ergotep Proseč cooperative of disabled people, Vojtěch Sedláček, founder of the ProVás Agency, s. r. o., and lawyer JUDr. Jan Hutař who focuses on the employment of people with disabilities (hosted by Veronika Sedláčková); the other discussion was entitled I Have a Place to Live, Therefore I Am How to Provide for Decent Living for People in Need (October 17) and attended by Jan Čižinský, mayor of Prague 7, Jan Snopek from the Social Housing Platform, Martin Freund (Žít Brno), member of the Housing Committee of the Brno City Council and chairman of the Committee for National Minorities of the Brno City Assembly, and Adam Fialík, head of field care at IQ Roma Service (hosted by Libuše Bautzová). The guests of another series of the so called Five O clock Tea held for donors, colleagues and other OHF supporters, were Petruška Šustrová (April 25) and Honza Homola (December 5). The debates were hosted by Martin Churavý. The OHF spread information about its activities via the Dobré zprávy (Good News) quarterly, the electronic sports bulletin News for Good Will Runners and its website. Cooperation with the media continued. In 2017, the OHF cooperated with Medical Tribune, Ambit Media, a. s., Economia, Newton Media, DVTV, Rádio 1, the Helpnet portal and others. 21 Public Relations Public Relations Photography Exhibition Olga Havel and the Committe of Good Will The Dobré zprávy (Good News) Magazine For the 9 th consecutive year, the OHF published its electronic magazine Dobré zprávy (Good News) in a quarterly format. The first issue of Dobré zprávy in 2017 (published in March) presented the new developments in OHF and activities continued from previous years. The topic of the second issue (in May) was, traditionally, the Olga Havel Award and its laureate. The third issue (published in September) focused on the topic of social housing. The fourth issue (released in December) dealt with children at risk and children with disabilities. The May and December issues of Dobré zprávy were also released in a printed version. In 2017, the exhibition was opened in the Culture and Education Centre in Kopidlno, the Culture Centre Nová Beseda in Klánovice, the Municipal Library in Kutná Hora, the Czech Centre in Warsaw, in Prague 3 and Prague 6 districts, the Municipal Library at Nový Jičín and the Municipal Library in Mikulov. The OHF Award at the Czech Press Photo Competition For the fourth time, the OHF was a partner in the My Life with a Handicap category at the prestigious Czech Press Photo competition. The Award is designed to recognize photographers who have created a photograph or a series of photographs capturing the conditions of people with sensory, motor, or mental disabilities. In 2017, the Award went to Slovak photographer Michal Babinčák for his photograph Life that he had taken at an excluded Roma locality in Slovakia. The LIFE photograph was taken in April 2017 near Vranov nad Topľou in a prefab block of flats at a Roma settlement in Eastern Slovakia. In a little room, two opposite images were to be seen a healthy newborn baby and a girl suffering from cerebral palsy. This is life. The settlement does not have its vajda (leader) and houses over 700 people. This is the second year that I am trying to document, through photography, the life in Roma villages in Slovakia. 22 Sister Organisations Sister Organisations On May 30, the OHF organised a meeting of the members of sister organisations in the Masaryk apartment at the Černín Palace in Prague. On this occasion, the publication All Was Driven by Our Love for Homeland was launched. The publication maps the activities of these organisations since the establishment of the OHF in the 1990s to this day. In this way, the OHF representatives expressed their gratitude to all those who for various reasons left totalitarian Czechoslovakia and, after the Velvet Revolution, sought ways to help their country of origin. Representatives of three sister organisations were still helping us usefully in Germany Deutsche Freunde und Förderer der Olga Havel Stiftung, e. V., an association operating as part of the Czech Embassy in Berlin, held two charity events in The proceeds of CZK 108,040 were used to support the Education Fund and the Fund for Children with Cerebral Palsy programmes. The association also mediated a donation of EUR 5,000 made by Mr. and Mrs. Achnitz to finance rehabilitation therapy for children with CP in the Czech Republic. Norway Ms. Jana Strømsnes from Bergen, the founder of Forum Norge-Tsjekkoslovakia, has for many years been making personal contributions to support the educational needs of socially disadvantaged children. In 2017, she donated to the OHF a total of CZK 94,570 which covered part of the costs of the Summer Language School for children from children s homes. 37 Financial Report Financial Report INDEPENDENT AUDITOR S REPORT ON FINANCIAL STATEMENTS compiled as of 31 st December 2017 Výbor dobré vůle Nadace Olgy Havlové, IČ , Senovážné nám. 2, Praha 1 for the Board of Directors and the Supervisory Board Opinion We have audited the accompanying financial statements of Výbor dobré vůle Nadace Olgy Havlové, IČ , Senovážné nám. 2, Praha 1, IČ (hereinafter also the Foundation ) prepared in accordance with accounting principles generally accepted in the Czech Republic, which comprise the balance sheet as at 31 December 2017, the income statement, and notes to the financial statements, including a summary of significant accounting policies and other explanatory information. For details of the Foundation, see Note I. to the financial statements. In our opinion, the financial statements give a true and fair view of the financial position of Výbor dobré vůle Nadace Olgy Havlové, a.s. as at 31 December 2017, and of its financial performance and its cash flows for the year then ended in accordance with accounting principles generally accepted in the Czech Republic. Basis for Opinion We conducted our audit in accordance with the Act on Auditors, and Auditing Standards of the Chamber of Auditors of the Czech Republic, which are International Standards on Auditing (ISAs), as amended by the related application clauses. Our responsibilities under this law and regulation are further described in the Auditor s Responsibilities for the Audit of the Financial Statements section of our report. We are independent of the Foundation in accordance with the Act on Auditors and the Code of Ethics adopted by the Chamber of Auditors of the Czech Republic and we have fulfilled our other ethical responsibilities in accordance with these requirements. We believe that the audit evidence we have obtained is sufficient and appropriate to provide a basis for our opinion. Responsibilities of the Foundation s Board of Directors for the Financial Statements The Board of Directors is responsible for the preparation and fair presentation of the financial statements in accordance with accounting principles generally accepted in the Czech Republic and for such internal control as the Board of Directors determines is necessary to enable the preparation of financial statements that are free from material misstatement, whether due to fraud or error. In preparing the financial statements, the Board of Directors is responsible for assessing the Foundation s ability to continue as a going concern, disclosing, as applicable, matters related to going concern and using the going concern basis of accounting unless the Board of Directors either intends to liquidate the Fondation or to cease operations, or has no realistic alternative but to do so. Auditor s Responsibilities for the Audit of the Financial Statements Our objectives are to obtain reasonable assurance about whether the financial statements as a whole are free from material misstatement, whether due to fraud or error, and to issue an auditor s report that includes our opinion. Reasonable assurance is a high level of assurance but is not a guarantee that an audit conducted in accordance with the above mentioned laws and regulations will always detect a material misstatement when it exists. Misstatements can arise from fraud or error and are considered material if, individually or in the aggregate, they could reasonably be expected to influence the economic decisions of users taken on the basis of these financial statements. As part of an audit in accordance with the above law or regulation, we exercise professional judgment and maintain professional skepticism throughout the audit. We also: Identify and assess the risks of material misstatement of the financial statements, whether due to fraud or error, design and perform audit procedures responsive to those risks, and obtain audit evidence that is sufficient and appropriate to provide a basis for our opinion. The risk of not detecting a material misstatement resulting from fraud is higher than for one resulting from error, as fraud may involve collusion, forgery, intentional omissions, misrepresentations, or the override of internal control. Obtain an understanding of internal control relevant to the audit in order to design audit procedures that are appropriate in the circumstances, but not for the purpose of expressing an opinion on the effectiveness of the Foundation s internal control. Evaluate the appropriateness of accounting policies used and the reasonableness of accounting estimates and related disclosures made by the Board of Directors. Conclude on the appropriateness of the Board of Directors use of the going concern basis of accounting and, based on the audit evidence obtained, whether a material uncertainty exists related to events or conditions that may cast significant doubt on the Foundation s ability to continue as a going concern. If we conclude that a material uncertainty exists, we are required to draw attention in our auditor s report to the related disclosures in the financial statements or, if such disclosures are inadequate, to modify our opinion. Our conclusions are based on the audit evidence obtained up to the date of our auditor s report. However, future events or conditions may cause the Foundation to cease to continue as a going concern. Evaluate the overall presentation, structure and content of the financial statements, including the disclosures, and whether the financial statements represent the underlying transactions and events in a manner that achieves fair presentation. We communicate with the Board of Directors regarding, among other matters, the planned scope and timing of the audit and significant audit findings, including any significant deficiencies in internal control that we identify during our audit. Other Information The other information comprises the information included in the annual report but does not include the financial statements and our auditor s report thereon. The Statutory Body is responsible for the other information. Our opinion on the financial statements does not cover the other information and we do not express any form of opinion thereon. However, in connection with our audit of the financial statements, our responsibility is to read the other information and consider whether the other information is not materially inconsistent with the financial statements or our knowledge obtained in the audit, the annual report has been prepared in accordance with the applicable legal requirements, or the other information does not otherwise appear to be materially misstated.
