1. INTRODUCTION The overall objective of BIO-HEAT is promoting the use of biomass from SRCs as a source of energy in Eastern European DH systems. To widespread the existing knowledge, experience and know-how and connect the relevant stake-holders throughout the value chain, the organization of practical workshops and seminars is a key part of BIO-HEAT project. For the success of these workshops and seminars, it is vital to design effective dissemination activities and develop adequate training material for the real implementation of these plantations, and their potential use in DH. 2. TRAINING EVENTS DESCRIPTION Training events will be run in parallel in the different target countries, with common objectives and target groups. For each country the national partner of the BIO-HEAT project will be the organizer, and content will be adapted to specific needs in each case. Reaching relevant stakeholders and decision makers to improve or set up a proper legal framework to boost the use of SRCs as a source of energy. Specific activities Target groups - Aiming the local farmers to consider SRCs as a source of energy and, therefore, of income. - Discussing the obstacles and barriers for its use, as well as the best ways to overcome them. - Visiting existing district heating installations fed by biomass produced by SRCs. - Discussing cost-benefit-analysis. District heating professionals, established municipal energy suppliers, technology providers, farmer and owners, reducing the gap between technology development and future end users. - Reviewing the existing legal framework regarding SRCs and its application as a source of energy. - Discussing how to improve or how to set up a proper legal framework to boost the use of SRCs. - Transmitting to the stakeholders and decision makers the impressions of the workshops attendees (relevant actors and potential end users). Workshops general aims and contents Workshops aim to provide general knowledge and background of the SRC to DH value chain to future end users: DH professionals, municipal energy suppliers and utilities, technology providers, farmers and owners. Workshops will show the technical feasibility of the chain and its advantages, provide the technical basis and show relevant successful examples, fostering the creation of new initiatives and business activities. With the information compiled in D2.1 and D2.2 ( Report on the state-of-the-art of the district heating technologies and biomass as a source of energy. Barriers for the extensive use of SRCs for District Heating purposes and SRCs as a source of energy: successful stories and best practices ), the workshops will be orientated in each country to highlight their existing best practices and generate a debate on the existing main barriers. The demonstrative summaries elaborated on D3.1 will be used. In addition to this previous work, the project partners, and with relevant importance the Industrial Association Groups, have identified and contacted the local key actors for each country. With all this, the workshop s agenda will be defined. The details are described by country in the following paragraphs. Seminars general aims and contents Seminars are oriented to decision makers, and policy-makers. As so, the main topics will be discussions around existing legal framework, the potential regional benefits of incentivizing SRC for DH applications and measures to overcome existing barriers. Scheduling of the events Workshops and seminars are in general designed as two days events, in order to facilitate byside meetings and the starting of clustering activities. In some particular cases other structures were more beneficial. This will be described with more detail in each countries paragraph. 3. KNOWLEDGE DISSEMINATION ACTIVITIES In this section we will describe the knowledge dissemination activities 3.1. Project website: www.bio-heat.eu Internet is one of the main sources of information today. For a promotion and training project as ours, having a well-designed project web-site is a first step to out-reach the goals as well as the activities and results of the project. The web-site was launched on month 3, as part of Work Package 4: Communication & Dissemination, and its regularly up-dated. This is one of the strongest dissemination tools of the project. The website is created in English, Polish, Lithuanian, Slovak, Romanian and Czech, as to be able to reach all stakeholders, farmers and industrials from the five target countries. The structure of the site is revised taking into account users feedback and content is up-dated as the project progresses. The site is currently divided in the following sections: - Market place: this section aims to be a contact point for companies and professionals of the BIO-HEAT value chain. Companies can register and set-up their company profile, creating a data base of related companies: pellet suppliers, engineering services providers, owners, district heating operators etc. Companies this way easily find appropriate partners for new business and can also place job-offers, creating a network platform on the complete SRC to DH value chain. Also, registered members automatically receive the Newsletters by email. During the different workshops, the website is presented and participants are invited to register. - Forum: The forum is a space to create debate on related topics, exchange experiences and questions between the actors of the sector. - Project Activities: In this section the work carried out in the frame of the project is presented, giving an overview of the workshops and seminars carried out in the different countries, dissemination activities conducted by all the project partners, and drawing together the impact the project has and relevant outcomes. - Best Practice: In this section, case-studies of relevant success stories and examples are presented, showing the feasibility and possibilities of the SCR to DH value chain on the different target countries. All the case studies can be downloaded from the website. - Infos+News: This is the download section of the web-site. Project newsletters and leaflets, deliverables and other related material can be found here ready to read or download by everyone interested on the BIO-HEAT topic. - Events: An agenda of the relevant national and international events and conferences related to SRC and DH is constantly up-dated here. - Goals and partners: The goals of the project and the partners background are presented in this section. 3.2. The basic set consists of two promotional leaflets and a poster, which are available in the six languages of the project. These leaflets will be distributed in every relevant event the partners are involved in. Supporting information for the training events in Czech Republic available relevant material For the training events, CZ Biom used as a base the general material generated for the project: Project Presentation, SRC Presentation and Cogeneration Presentation. The material generated for Deliverables D2.1, 2.2 and 3.1 was also used, as well as the sources found wail generating this material. In addition to this, the expert speakers brought their own knowledge and experienced practise in the field. 4.4. Dissemination strategy for the training events in Czech Republic CZ Biom own dissemination channels and other organisations and dissemination platforms CZ Biom has as first platform of dissemination its website: http://biom.cz/. The web site is the most visited site for biomass use in the Czech Republic with over 100 thousand page views per month. This categorization is being used as well within the biom.cz website. Those stakeholders are receiving relevant news about the topic and as well about the project and events. Events and project news are being as well distributed in a daily news flash which is being sent to stakeholders via email. In addition has CZ Biom their own web site http://czbiom.cz/en which has been linked to BIO- HEAT website (http://czbiom.cz/en/projects/) and the basic information about the project has been included (project objectives, goals etc). CZ Biom has it s own expert magazine (Biom) where it publishes news about the project. CZ Biom also collaborates with other relevant organizations that could include BIO-HEAT on their web-site, such as ceska-peleta.cz, which is cluster of solid biofuels producers and a Crop Research Institute, which is one of the leading institutes in SRC development in the Czech Republic. For dissemination purposes partner news portals with focus on RES such as tzb-info.cz are being used as well. BIO-HEAT leaflets will be distributed on expositions and conferences where CZ Biom participates, such as Techagro (over 100 thousand visitors), Země živitelka (apx. 60 thousand visitors) and Infotherma (apx. 60 thousand visitors). 5. UPT conducts related research on co-combustion and co-generation of biomass wood-chips, and so produces scientific articles on the bio-heat topic, that will be further disseminated through the project website. In addition to this, the expert speakers brought their own knowledge and experienced practise in the field. 6.4. EKSPERT-SITR also distributes a newsletter, where they disseminate the results of the training events. Also, results will be disseminated in the national conference Intelligent Energy Europe in Po in Warsaw, in Promoting research on renewable energy sources and support for intellectual property protection in this area and as well during international training sessions in Crimea and Ukraine.
