Architecture and Building Culture Policy and MoE MoE shared responisbility and cooperation with MoRD LANDSCAPE AND SETTLEMENTS 2012 (2015) - Joint Methodological Communication of the MoE + MoRD to apply the requirements of the authorities concerned to the draft of the spatial plan 2016 - Territorial Landscape Study common methodology how to enter TLS is a technical document enabling comprehensive conceptual and multidisciplinary approach to landscapes by using the coordinating role of spatial planning legislation, processes and documentation constitutes the basis for planning and decision-making procedures quality elaboration requires cooperation of all stakeholders and must involve a team of experts elaboration is fully supported by the combination of EU and National Funds 47 higher territorial units (ORP) already in process (25% of the CZ territory) Methodology for establishing the concept of landscape adjustment in the spatial plan (MoRD + MoE) expected completion date 2018 Green infrastructure acutally TA research project Strategically planned network of natural and semi-natural areas with the different environmental features that have been designed and managed to provide a wide range of ecosystem services. Includes green areas (or blue areas for aquatic ecosystems) and others physical elements in land (including coastal) and marine areas.
Architecture and Building Culture Policy and MoE MoE shared responisbility and cooperation with MoRD LANDSCAPE AND SETTLEMENTS Methodological Guidance for NPA - Landscape Character Protection in the Spatial Plan (2017) takes into account several variants that can occur in practice, including the assessment of individual plans when needed. MoE shared responisbility and cooperation with MoIT LANDSCAPE AND SETTLEMENTS Support for the Regeneration and Business Utilization of Brownfields Programme (Ministry of Industry and Trade 2017-2023) allocation of CZK 2 billion aimed especially at the destruction of industrial sites and the revitalization of these areas to 10 ha in the structurally affected regions (Moravskoslezský, Ústecký, Karlovarský) and economically problematic regions 10% of the greenery is required EDUCATION, AWARENESS AND RESEARCH In support of the ESF and the budget of the Czech Republic, a high quality and appreciated methodology "Cultural Heritage and Sustainable Development of Local Communities in School Practice" was elaborated. Adaptation to Climate Change and ABCP Climate Change is the major factor contributing to increasing frequency and complexity of the threats and risks arising from them, which directly or indirectly affects health and lives of the population, environment and property cross-cutting issue Strategy on Adaptation to Climate Change in the Czech Republic Adopted by the Czech Government on October 26, 2015 10 areas/sectors of interest (water regime in landscape and water management, forest management, agriculture, transportation, health and hygiene, urban landscape, biodiversity and ekosystém services, tourism and recreation, industry and energy, emergency events and protection of the population and environment) Adaptation measures National Action Plan on Adaptation to Climate Change Adopted by the Czech Government on January 16, 2017 5 manifestations of the climate change Each chapter identifies the key sectors affected by particular manifestations of CC, describes main impacts, vulnerability and risks in CR 33 specific objectives + 1 cross-cutting objective dedicated to education, training and awareness-raising 52 priority measures => 160 priority tasks
Regional Climate Change Projections Climate projections for Czech Republic in 2039 Average annual air temperature 1961-1990 Average annual air temperature - increase cca by 1 C Extremality of temperatures - summer: increase in the frequency of tropical summer days and tropical nights - winter: decrease in the frequency of frost, ice and arctic days Average monthly precipitation - winter: decline by up to 20% - spring: increase by 2 to ca 16%, regionally specific for summer and autumn - summer: mostly slight decline - autumn: somewhere decline by few %, elsewhere increase by 20 26% The annual rainfall totals will not change much, but its distribution will change during the year (= more extremes). scenario 2010-2039 scenario 2040-2069
Manifestations of Climate Change Significant weather events: - frequent rainstroms, - longer periods of draughts, - heat waves, - wamer and wetter winters with less snow, - episodes of windstorms Floods and flash floods Fires in open landscapes
Examples of Adaptation Measures open landscapes Forestry - Use of natural processes in forestry - Increasing species and age diversity of forests - Stabilization of carbon bound in forest ecosystems Agriculture - Afforestation, grassing - Standards of GAEC - Reduction of soil erosion - Measures preventing agricultural drought
Adaptation measures in open landscapes
Examples of adaptation measures in urban landscape 10,7 % of CZ territory - built up areas and other surfaces 75 % inhabitants of the Czech Republic live in towns Adaptation of buildings - reducing the heat stress of the population Functional and ecologically stabile system of green infrastructure (urban greenery) Rainwater management Effective protection and use of water resources Mitigation of flood consequences in urbanized areas - taking into account when designing buildings and other projects in vulnerable areas
Green roofs Pond for rainwaters Rainwater reuse Semipermeable surface Green roofs and rainwater ponds Functional urban greenery Adaptation measures in urban landscapes Ada Nature close flood protection Adaptation of Public buildings Green roofs and facade
