4 This monthly is dedicated to the deaf and hard of hearing of all ages, their parents and relatives, doctors, social workers, teachers as well as all of those who come into contact with the deaf and hard of hearing. It continuously focuses on legal updates related to social security system, medical and retirement insurance. It provides answers to the readers questions pertaining to labor law, social position and all kinds of hearing impairment. It presents new technical aids designed for the deaf and hard of hearing and their assessment by their users and specialists. The magazine also prints information taken over from some foreign magazines published for the deaf and hard of hearing, international congresses, festivals and meetings. In addition, it concentrates on leisure activities, culture, out-of-school activities and education. It has been issued since 1992 by the Czech Union of the Deaf. It s contents focuses mainly on those who lacked their sense of hearing before any language acquisition. It also aids to implement the Sign Language Law (No. 155/1998 Sb.) Apart from containing information about various organizations of the deaf and hard of hearing, it also supplies news from the world of those hearing people who work for the community of the deaf and hard of hearing. What appears to be popular as well is its Czech Sign Language Course. The deaf and hard of hearing themselves contribute to the magazine in the form of stories, their own experience and sport score reports. The magazine also presents various contests. What makes this monthly unique and different from others of its type is that it is chiefly the deaf s and hard of hearing s contributions that make it up. Thus the magazine makes for boosting the self-confidence of those individuals who suffer from the disorder. In 2001, the UNIE monthly was positively appraised by Milos Zeman, the Czech Prime Minister, for its popularization of the issues related the deaf and hard of hearing. Individual records and ads are well ordered and sorted by the date of entry. The server also posts specialized articles focusing on educating the deaf and hard of hearing as well as the information related to technological and technical advances in the field of technology designed for the deaf and hard of hearing. Since the articles can be posted on the server via electronic forms placed on the website, the authors team is continuously expanding. As a result, it is possible for everyone to become a contributor. In 2002, the website came up with the novel Printed Data Transformation Service by means of which the NetPro Systems sponsor posting the contributors bulletins and other printed materials on the server. This is to inform the deaf and hard of hearing of the activities held all over the Czech Republic, advertise issues pertaining to the deaf and hard of hearing and prove this is the right place for the communication by means of modern Internet technologies.

Its supreme body is the meeting of the member representatives which takes place once a month. The member institutions (ranging from those who work for the people who lost their hearing before language acquisition to those working for the deaf, hard of hearing or those assisting the deafened as well as their parents and signlanguage interpreters) have an opportunity to propose or affect legal regulations concerning the deaf and hard of hearing via this association.
