Why RFoG RFoG (Radio Freueny over Glass) is a method to provide DOCSIS 3.0 Services over a point-to-multipoint Network such as GPON /EPON etc. The RFoG Wavelength in the Return Channel is specified with 1610nm to run in parallel with GPON on the same splitter The RFoG Return Channel Transmitter is sending in Burst Mode, which means only one Transmitter at a certain splitter can send, the other ones are switched off (cable modem triggers the Transmitter within 1µsec) RFoG is designed mainly for Cable Operators running today already DOCSIS, but want to invest in a future proof Network concept based on fiber optics (extension to GPON or any other PON based data network) Seite 16
